Statholdergaarden
Statholdergaarden is one of Osloʼs best restaurants and is run by the chef Bent Stiansen, who was the first Norwegian to win the Bocuse d’Or world championship for professional chefs in 1993.
Statholdergaarden lies in Osloʼs historic quarter, ʻKvadraturenʼ [the quadrature], and the building dates from 1640. Ulrik Fredrik Gyldenløve, the King's Statholder or Steward, lived in the house at the end of the 17th century and gave his title to the restaurant. The beautiful stucco ceilings date from the 18th century and are considered the most beautiful of their kind in Norway.
Statholderens Mat og Vinkjeller
Stiansen creates modern dishes based on local ingredients fresh daily. Our more informal restaurant, Statholderens Mat og Vinkjeller, can be found in the cellar, serving high-quality Danish open sandwiches for lunch as well as exciting Scandinavian dinner dishes. Closed for lunch spring and summer. Opens for dinner at 5pm.
Closed during summer July 6th - Aug 6th
